Mani Monday’s Mythical Unicorn

So it’s been a minute since I’ve stopped by my blog to write and share. Goodneass, I don’t know where time goes. For instance — How on earth is my oldest going to be turning 9 tomorrow morning? What?!?

As a mom of three, life is going a mile a minute, but my daughter and I did find some time to make sure I nails were ready to take on the week. She wanted a unicorn manicure and after figuring out I was going to pull that off for her, I went with something simple for myself.

Sometime my little girl’s manicures are easier than others, but I certainly try my best each and every time. No matter what her request, I am always thankful for manicure time because it gives us both time to pause our crazy life to talk, laugh and beautify. Each and every manicure is another memory created.

Behold … the quickest (and easiest) way I could come up with to create a unicorn mani for my princess.

Watermarked Unicorn

To start we polished four of her fingers with Avon True Color Pro+ Nail Enamel in Glistening Pink and prepped the ring finger with a base coat of Avon Gel Finish 7-in-1 Nail Enamel in Iceberg White. You can’t have a unicorn without a sparkly magical horn and for that I used the 7-in-1 Gel Finish in Glimmer. Ears and lashes were created with a beautiful midnight plum polish from years ago and we finished off the magical creature with a little more Glistening pink to tie it all together. To draw the unicorn detail all I used was a toothpick and a paper plate for polish puddles.

Although I think the design could be much improved  through a second attempt … alas, our time was up when my toddler woke up from his nap.

For my own manicure I decided a simple design with beautiful fall colors would do me just fine. It may still be near 100 degrees here in the Arizona desert, but I can start to dream of cooler fall temperatures and this mani helped me do just that.

I started with Avon True Color Pro+ Nail Enamel in Smoky Plum and completed the look with accent nails in Effortless Mauve Pro+ Nail Enamel. After just completing my daughter’s unicorn nails, mine looked a little plain so I had to add the heart accent to jazz the look up. Again I just used a toothpick to dot the smoky plum onto the nail and draw the dots downward to connect to create a heart.

Do it yourself manicures were my first love and really my first introduction to the beauty world. I am so glad my little girl and I can share the joy of being creative together and creating beautiful memories.

And now that I have pretty nails to stare at while I type on my computer, I am going to type my way over to enter the Fall for Plum Sweepstakes. You can enter to win too! Back in the Face of the Day Game

I haven’t been feeling very well lately and it’s been a while since I’ve put on a full face of makeup. However, today I did and it’s amazing how much it improved my attitude. I actually feel put together and ready to face the day. So of course, I had to document my Face of the Day and share it with you. CHEESE!

Being that I haven’t worn makeup in a while, I figured I would ease in with a fairly natural look with some added color on my lips. Here’s what I used to achieve today’s look.

Listed clockwise from left to right I used the mark. chic frills powder blush, Avon ultra color absolute lipstick in tea rose, mark. neutrals on the dot eye color compact and Avon mega effects mascara.

Happy Hour Look of the Day

TGIF! I’m off to meet the hubby for happy hour with his coworkers. For the evening out I thought I would spice up my look with an understated, but colorful cat eye. To achieve this look I used an Avon Extralasting eyeshadow pencil in shimmering sand as a base on my lid. I then lined the upper lash line with Avon Glimmersticks Chromes in Ultra Violet to create the cat eye effect and following that up with my Avon Extralasting Eyeshadow Pencil in Aquamarine on the inner half of the upper lash line. I finished the eye look off with Avon’s innovative new Mega Effects Mascara. Cheers!

My Avon Makeup Maven Journey

What a whirlwind of makeup fun and exploration my life has been since earning the West Regional Makeup Maven title from Avon in January. This year has been filled with trips to New York City, creating YouTube tutorials, giving presentations, creating pictorials and conducting makeup classes. I am having so much fun stepping out of my comfort zone and encouraging other women to do the same with their makeup choices. I am so thankful to Avon for broadening my horizons and providing me with the “expert” knowledge and confidence to inspire others to have fun and spice up their makeup routines.

I am so looking forward to finally having a blog to share my beauty journey as I really dive into the beauty world, experience new products, have fun with nail art, share beauty tips and create beautiful makeup looks. Please feel free to comment with questions or topics you would like to see included in this blog.

Here are some highlights from my recent trips to New York City …

My first trip to NYC in February included a tour of Avon’s Global Research and Development Center, a Master Makeup Class with Celebrity Makeup Artist Paul Innis, cocktails with Avon’s CEO, a surprise photo shoot and other fantastic training. I even had a chance to see Newsies on Broadway!

I was thrilled and honored to be invited back to NYC once again in March to be a part of a Video Shoot to create training materials for other Avon Representatives. What an incredible opportunity to share beauty tips, marketing technics and other tidbits on how to grow a profitable makeup business. We had a blast on set and enjoyed getting to meet Avon’s New Global Celebrity Makeup Artist Lauren Andersen.
